A service note from Kingston Quest

Because the Kingston Quest website is only the portal to the subordinate divisions, we will not elaborate here on the individual division services, but instead share our view on services in general. Good ole' Customer Service

Some of you may remember the old days of gas station service attendants. They would line up in front of the station wearing khaki trousers and tops, bow ties, and Garrison caps. As soon as you pulled into the station, the attendants would swarm around your car for a "full service check-up". While one attendant was asking you how much gas you wanted, others were checking your oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, fan belts and radiator hoses. While this was going on, the tire treads and air pressure was being checked. Even the windows were being cleaned inside and out.

By the time the pump attendant was finished, so was everyone else. And how did we feel? We felt special, lucky, respected and cared for. But most of all we felt empowered because our attendants had just assured us that we could drive our car in any weather, anywhere we liked. This was the feeling of freedom.

Traditional customer service has changed a lot in the past 30 years and smiling faces have been replaced by automated answering systems. Elevator music and multi-choice phone menus often leave us frustrated or even irate. We no longer feel empowered and often feel like victims of a non-caring, inadequate institution that does not apply any value to the consumer. Now, transplanting your business interests in China, where there never was service network and there are only two language options (Mandarin or Cantonese), plus a 12 to 15 hour time difference, acquiring personalized services really becomes daunting.

Kingston Quest staff has a good handle on services, but it surely is different from in the USA. There are many courtesies and protocols to learn and observe. Most deals are discussed at late night dinners, not during the daytime in the office. Attitude is king and if you live and work in China, you are expected to behave as the Chinese do. This is a big, busy place with manufacturing spread out all over the country. Many of our normal tasks require air or train travel, and we often need to locate factories that are off the beaten path.

We will meet you, assist you, translate your requirements, negotiate for you, argue or fight if necessary, but will always try to make sure that you do not have to experience the real difficulties that we endure every day, and in our opinion, that is a real customer service.
